Biographical Information
River Fisher received her M.M.E. in Choral Pedagogy from Illinois State University in 2017. She completed her B.A. in Music Education from Augustana College in 2010. While there she studied piano with Dennis Loftin, voice with Sangeetha Rayapati, organ with Larry Petersen, and opera with John Pfautz. Over the past ten years, River has been a K-12 music educator in Illinois and Nebraska, focusing primarily on vocal music. She currently teaches private lessons in the Omaha area and is the director of the Archdiocesan Youth Choir at St. Cecilia Cathedral in Omaha.
In addition to her teaching experience, River is a thriving vocalist and pianist. You may find her on the roster of Resonance, the primary vocal ensemble for the Omaha Symphony Chorus. Former appointments include the professional ensemble, Nova Singers, and the Chicago Chorale. Opera roles include Laurie in The Tenderland and Jenny in Down in the Valley with Opera@Augustana. Musical theater roles include Emma in Jekyll & Hyde, Inga in Young Frankenstein, and Lily in The Secret Garden. River lives in Omaha with her husband, Don, and dogs Inga and Igor.
